Care instructions

To make sure you keep your clothes pretty, we advise you to have a close look at the care instructions label delivered with or in your garment. The symbols give you the specific advice for taking good care of your garment. An explanation of these symbols can be found below.

Washing

Washing in the washing machine is possible if indicated on the care instructions label. Washing at 30°C saves energy, the garment shrinks less and your garment will be clean as well. Your clothing will remain best if you wash it inside out.
If hand wash is required, first dissolve the detergent in cold to hand warm water, then put the garment in the water. Immerse well, do not leave your laundry in the water for long but rinse it quick and thoroughly in cold to hand warm water. Wring the laundry carefully and leave it hanging or lying to dry.
Woollen products need extra care: do not rub or wring your laundry and let it dry while lying on a drying frame.

Detergent

Use as little as possible detergent. The packaging of the detergent will tell you how much you need. Do not wash or try to take away stains locally, you might end up with colour differences. There are a number of environmentally friendly detergents for sale.

Drying

The garments of Ethical Classics can best be dried while hanging on a coat hanger or over a drying frame. The use of pegs might leave spots. Leave woollen garments dry while lying on a towel over a drying frame.

Ironing

The icons at the care instructions label tell you if and at what temperature you may iron. If you are allowed to iron, try to iron inside out, this will prevent shiny spots. Ironing is easiest if the garment is still slightly moist. Good ironing makes a substantial difference in shrinkage.
Be careful when using a steam iron. Steam is always 100°C. If the care instructions label shows 3 bullets in the iron symbol, you may use steam.
